She’s almost a daily visitor to our store, the customers that have known her for years call her Janet, everyone else calls her Grandma. And when she’s here you can generally find her handing out hugs. She’s the original owner of Long Bros. Building Supply, back in 1974, her and her late husband Buddy moved to Woodburn to start a lumber yard with their children. They had been in the industry in Keizer for years as Buddy’s grandfather Chester had a lumber yard that sold recycled building materials from old military barracks.
Janet did a little bit of everything when she worked here, from bookkeeping to helping customers, she was always around. Her and Buddy retired early in life and spent many years traveling in their motorhome down to California and Arizona. Some years they even traveled further east towards Texas and as far as Florida. Buddy passed away six years ago from a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Janet still lives in our community of Woodburn. She spends time with several people in her neighborhood, enjoys shopping trips, day trips to the casino and time spent
with her family.
